Face To Face With The Truth, released 1972 on Motown's Gordy imprint, was produced entirely by Norman Whitfield, who reworked several songs he'd already cut with the Temptations into new arrangements for this group, including an extended take on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." Funk Brothers regulars Dennis Coffey and James Jamerson play guitar and bass, with Joe Harris fronting the group. Whitfield's habit of never producing a song the same way twice runs through the whole record.
