+'Justments, released 1974 on Sussex, followed Bill Withers's hit Still Bill and was self-produced with bassist Melvin Dunlap and drummer James Gadson, backed largely by former members of Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. Jazz harpist Dorothy Ashby and guitarist José Feliciano both contribute, and Withers's then-wife, actress Denise Nicholas, co-wrote "Can We Pretend." The record went out of print for years after Sussex's collapse and was later included on Mojo's list of lost classics worth rediscovering.
