The Poet II, released 1984 on Beverly Glen, followed a contract dispute between Bobby Womack and label head Otis Smith after The Poet's 1981 comeback had topped the R&B albums chart; a court ordered Womack to deliver one more record before leaving the label. Three duets with Patti LaBelle anchor the set, most notably "Love Has Finally Come at Last," which reached the top three on the R&B singles chart.
