You Know I Care, released August 2023 on Tenderlonious's own label 22a, is his first recording on alto saxophone after years better known for flute. A covers record rather than his usual original compositions, it pays tribute to Jackie McLean, Duke Pearson, Clifford Jordan and Wayne Shorter across six tracks, including a flute-and-piano reading of Shorter's "Infant Eyes" and a piece dedicated to Eric Dolphy. Backed by pianist Hamish Balfour, bassist Pete Martin and drummer Tim Carnegie, the title track is a 1960s standard performed on alto flute, closing out a rare detour into other people's songs.
