Alfa Mist’s sixth album runs on a genuinely strange premise: a sci-fi scenario where reincarnation turns out to be real, and society has to decide whether to share that knowledge or hoard it for power. Each of the fifteen tracks plays as ‘a spin of the wheel — a different song and character,’ Mist’s usual sophisticated piano work pushed toward something smokier and more psychedelic than before. The eight-minute title track shifts time signatures repeatedly, chasing the non-linear way life actually feels rather than a tidy verse-chorus structure. Homeboy Sandman, Tawiah and Kaya Thomas-Dyke guest. Mist frames it as him thinking through his own evolving sense of self — music as the constant, his perspective on it the variable.
