Innervisions, released August 1973 on Tamla, is Stevie Wonder's sixteenth album, co-produced with the TONTO synthesizer team of Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff, with Wonder playing nearly every instrument himself. The nine tracks move through drug abuse, urban inequality and spirituality, "Living for the City" layering real street noise beneath its verses. Three days after release, Wonder was critically injured in a car crash and fell into a coma. The album won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
