When Do We Get Paid, recorded in a single 1975 session at Statue Recording Studio in Tupelo, is the only album by the Staples Jr. Singers, a family soul-gospel group from Aberdeen, Mississippi, made up of siblings Edward, Annie and Cleveland Brown alongside A.R.C. and Ronnie. Named after The Staple Singers, whose records inspired them, the group blended traditional gospel with funk rhythms under A.R.C.'s guitar work. "There wasn't no coming back the next day to finish our songs," Edward has recalled. The record sat forgotten for decades until Luaka Bop reissued it in 2022, introducing the group to a new audience nearly fifty years on.
