CK, released November 1988 on Warner Bros., was Chaka Khan's first solo album made without longtime producer Arif Mardin, handled mostly by Russ Titelman with additional tracks from David Frank, Chris Jasper and, on "Sticky Wicked," Prince, in their first-ever studio collaboration. Guests include Stevie Wonder on harmonica and Miles Davis on trumpet across two tracks. It reached a modest number 17 on the R&B albums chart in a year when synth-pop and hip-hop were reshaping radio.
