Searching, released June 2024 on Luaka Bop and produced by Ahmed Gallab (Sinkane), is only the second album ever by the Staples Jr. Singers, a family gospel group from Aberdeen, Mississippi, whose sole prior record, the self-released When Do We Get Paid, dated back to 1975 and stayed largely unknown until Luaka Bop reissued it in 2022. Recorded in West Point, Mississippi, and Nashville, the eight-track record includes "Living In This World Alone" featuring Annie Brown Caldwell, arriving decades after the group's teenage debut was rediscovered and brought back into print.
