Love Of A Lifetime, released January 1986 on Warner Bros. as a 12-inch single, pairs the extended dance mix of the title track with "Coltrane Dreams," both drawn from Chaka Khan's forthcoming album Destiny. Written by David Gamson and Green Gartside of Scritti Politti, who also produced alongside Arif Mardin, the song reached number eleven on the dance chart, its strongest showing across the format's various pressings. Gartside also sang backing vocals on the track.
