Seun Kuti's fourth studio album fronting Egypt 80, the orchestra his father Fela originally built, pairs the group with guest turns from Carlos Santana and Robert Glasper across a 2018 Strut release he's called “a true reflection of my political and social beliefs.” Tracks draw direct lines between labor conditions from Michigan to Lagos to Johannesburg, “Last Revolutionary” honoring Kwame Nkrumah and Thomas Sankara by name, “Corporate Public Control Department” aimed squarely at Nigerian government corruption. Veteran Egypt 80 saxophonist Abedimeji “Showboy” Fagbemi co-writes several of the album's tracks alongside Kuti himself.
