Zombie, from 1976/77, is Fela Kuti's most direct swing at Nigeria's military government, its title track likening soldiers to mindless followers taking orders without question. The record's release brought real consequences: soldiers stormed and burned Fela's compound afterward. "Mr Follow Follow" pushes the same theme, separating those who follow with open eyes from those who don't look at all. This reissue adds two previously unreleased live cuts from 1978 Berlin performances, "Observation Is No Crime" and "Mistake," in which Fela defends free speech and presses African leaders to own their failures rather than pass them off as somebody else's mess.
