Roy Ayers composed, arranged and produced this 1973 blaxploitation soundtrack for Polydor, playing vibraphone and contributing vocals alongside Dee Dee Bridgewater, with Harry Whitaker handling orchestrations and keys. Bassist Richard Davis, drummer Dennis Davis and trumpeters Cecil Bridgewater and Jon Faddis fill out a jazz-funk band built for urban film scoring rather than a straight studio session. It peaked at number 31 on the jazz albums chart, and its grooves have circulated well beyond the film since.
