Sounds... And Stuff Like That!!, released 1978 on A&M and produced by Quincy Jones, was recorded across Cherokee, Westlake and A&R Recording, with engineering by Bruce Swedien. The vocal roster spans Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Patti Austin and Ashford & Simpson, while Herbie Hancock reworks one of his own compositions with an added orchestral violin overdub. The disco-inflected title track anchors a set that blends jazz-funk with mainstream pop.
