Now, released in 1984 and reissued by Strut as an expanded edition, closed out Patrice Rushen's run on Elektra with her most electronic-leaning record yet. "By this time, I had built a little home studio, and the new synthesizers and drum machines opened a lot of possibilities," she's explained. "Get Off (You Fascinate Me)" became a dancefloor staple and "Feels So Real" one of her most beloved songs, and the album is said to have influenced Janet Jackson's Control, with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis reportedly catching Rushen's live shows around this time, absorbing the sound of a record now viewed as ahead of its moment.
