Parliament's fifth album, from 1976, is where George Clinton's mythology-building hit its commercial stride — “Dr. Funkenstein” and “Do That Stuff” both charted, and the record went gold. Bootsy Collins anchors the low end while Bernie Worrell's keyboards and horn charts from Fred Wesley, fresh off James Brown's band, fill out the arrangements. It marked the P-Funk universe's second gold record, right as the mothership mythology took hold across the group's records.
