Release Yourself, released 1974 on Warner Bros., is the second album from Graham Central Station, the band Larry Graham formed after leaving Sly & the Family Stone in 1972. Recorded at the Record Plant in Sausalito with Graham producing his own bass and lead vocals, the record brings in horn players from Tower of Power to fill out its heavier, more percussive funk sound, building on the thumb-slap bass style Graham had pioneered a few years earlier.
