Jungle Run, released February 2019 on Strut, is Leeds collective Nubiyan Twist's third album, founded around guitarist and producer Tom Excell and vocalist Nubiya Brandon. The record folds afrobeat, dub, Latin rhythm and jazz into a sound that nods to '90s acid jazz and neo-soul without leaning on nostalgia for its own sake. Guests run deep: afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen drums on "Ghosts," Ethiopian jazz vibraphonist Mulatu Astatke appears on "Addis to London," and Ghanaian rapper K.O.G. turns up twice, giving the record a genuinely international cast built around Nubiyan Twist's own London base.
