Just Outside Of Town, released 1973 on Polydor, is the fourth album from Brooklyn's Mandrill, a deliberately multiracial band built around the Wilson brothers, Carlos, Louis and Ricardo. Recorded across Electric Lady Studios, the Hit Factory in New York and Sound City in California, the record shifts between Latin funk, bossa-tinged horns and blaxploitation grooves. "Two Sisters of Mystery" has since been sampled by Public Enemy, and the album reached number eight on the Soul Albums chart.
