This American funk band, formed in New York but based for years in France, cut the tracks here in the early-to-mid 1970s — most notably “Hihache,” among the most sampled breaks in hip-hop, turning up in records by Dr. Dre and De La Soul among others. Strut's 2021 reissue gathers seven tracks including the title cut and “Azeta,” instrumental funk built for rhythm section groove over vocal hooks. A cult catalogue reaching wider ears mostly secondhand, through samples.
