Gift From The Trees, released March 2023 on Gondwana Records, is Mammal Hands' fifth album and the first the UK trio recorded in a residential studio, chasing a looser, more nocturnal feel than their earlier sessions. Engineered by the band's regular live engineer Benjamin Capp and mixed by Greg Freeman in Berlin, the record deliberately moves away from a polished studio sound toward the energy of their live shows. Two sessions in the Welsh countryside, one in winter and one in spring, shaped the record's shifting moods, audible across tracks like "Kernel" and "Dimu," which mix pre-composed material with studio improvisation.
