Kamasi Washington's 2017 EP for Young Turks is a six-movement suite where the closing 13-minute “Truth” gathers up musical themes from the five pieces before it into a single conclusion. Thundercat, Miles Mosley, Brandon Coleman and a full choir and string section join Washington's tenor saxophone across the record, “Truth” later turning up as the closing needle-drop for Homeland's series finale. A more compact, structurally ambitious statement than his sprawling double and triple albums.
