Kamaal Williams made this 2018 solo debut on his own Black Focus label after Yussef Kamaal, his duo with drummer Yussef Dayes, split the year before — recorded largely in his mother's living room with bassist Pete Martin and drummer Josh McKenzie, then mixed over six months with producer Richard Samuels. Williams has called the record “the essence of the London Underground.” His first UK Albums Chart entry, and it topped the UK Jazz & Blues chart.
