This La Sape release combines two earlier Godtet recordings, Suite (2020) and Meditations (2021), into a single eight-track LP. The Sydney five-piece — Dave Rodriguez on guitar and production, Dom Kirk on percussion, Jan Bangma on bass, Tully Ryan on drums, Andrew Bruce on piano and keys — build the A-side around three meditation pieces before the B-side opens into struck bamboo pipes, men's and women's choir parts, and Caribbean and Moroccan-referencing instrumental passages. A genuinely wide-ranging combination for a band whose whole ethos leans on spontaneity over repeating a fixed formula.
