Doctrine Of Love, released June 2026 on Daptone Records, is Jalen N'Gonda's second album, following his 2023 debut Come Around And Love Me, whose title track made Elton John's list of favorite songs that year. Produced by Vince Chiarito and Michael Buckley, the ten tracks trade some of the debut's orchestral vintage-soul polish for a rawer, funkier sound built on prominent horns and gospel-tinged backing vocals, pulling in doo-wop and 1950s New Orleans rock and roll alongside a title track partly inspired by James Brown. N'Gonda discovered Motown at eleven through the Temptations' "My Girl," later dropping out of Liverpool's LIPA to pursue music full time.
