Pyramid, released August 2020 on Brainfeeder, is Norwegian eight-piece Jaga Jazzist's ninth album and their first since 2015's Starfire, made in just two weeks of intensive twelve-hour days at a secluded Swedish studio, a sharp contrast to the two years the previous record took. Drawing on Isao Tomita, Fela Kuti, Tame Impala and Jon Hopkins, the four extended tracks move through multiple sections rather than sitting still, with titles like "Tomita" and "The Shrine" nodding directly to those influences. Drummer Martin Horntveth has said the goal was simply to "follow the first and original idea and keep the freshness" rather than second-guess it.
