Night After Night, released 1989 on Elektra, has George Duke producing himself at LeGonks West with a deep session lineup, bassist "Ready" Freddie Washington, guitarist Paul Jackson Jr. and drummer John Robinson among them. Guest vocalists Howard Hewett, James Ingram, Johnny Gill and Jeffrey Osborne all feature across the record's dance-funk instrumentals, which reached number eleven on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. It leans further into smooth, radio-ready production than Duke's earlier, more improvisation-heavy jazz-funk work.
