White Rabbit, recorded November 1971 at Van Gelder Studio and released the same year on CTI, has George Benson leading a studio band, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Billy Cobham among them, through covers of Jefferson Airplane's title track and "California Dreamin'." Producer Creed Taylor and arranger Don Sebesky built the record around CTI's polished house sound, and a then-17-year-old Earl Klugh made his recording debut on "El Mar." The album earned Benson his first Grammy nomination.
