Special Edition, released 1980 on Elektra, is the sophomore album from Five Special, a Detroit vocal group led by Bryan Banks, younger brother of Ron Banks of the Dramatics, who produced this record himself. Executive producer Wayne Henderson, a founding member of the Crusaders, gave the session a jazz-world pedigree behind the boards. It followed the group's breakout single "Why Leave Us Alone," which reached number nine on the R&B chart; this follow-up peaked lower, at number 46.
