Chic's 1978 second album, written and produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, is where the group's disco sound hit commercial saturation — “Le Freak” alone sold six million copies and topped the pop, R&B and club charts that October. Alfa Anderson carries lead vocals across most of the record, Luther Vandross and Tony Thompson among the session players filling out the arrangements. Platinum in the US, gold in the UK, eleven weeks atop the R&B album chart.
