You Can't Steal My Joy, released April 2019, is Ezra Collective's debut album, the five-piece London group folding afrobeat, Latin rhythm, hip-hop and grime into a sound built for a room full of dancing bodies. Bandleader Femi Koleoso has explained the title as a statement about resilience: plenty can be taken from a young Londoner, but if the core truth holds, the joy doesn't go with it. The record features Jorja Smith, Loyle Carner and KOKOROKO across its thirteen tracks and was widely read as a document of the UK jazz scene's mid-2010s surge, catching a band already playing like they'd been doing it for decades.
