I Need Some Money, released 1975 on Atlantic and produced by Geoffrey Haslam, was recorded at Paragon Studios in Chicago with guitarist Ronald Muldrow and bassist Rufus Reid. The title track pairs a comic, spoken-sung vocal with a funk groove built around economic hardship, while "I Don't Want Nobody" stretches into a twelve-minute blues ballad. It's Harris leaning toward looser, more commercial funk territory than his earlier jazz work.
