Getting Down To Business, recorded October 1989 at Van Gelder Studio and released 1990 on Landmark, was produced by label founder Orrin Keepnews, with Rudy Van Gelder engineering. It marked one of Donald Byrd's early jazz sessions after years focused on R&B and funk, pairing him with Joe Henderson and a young Kenny Garrett on alto sax, backed by Donald Brown, Peter Washington and Al Foster.
