Giant Box is a 1973 double album from CTI's house arranger Don Sebesky, produced by Creed Taylor and recorded by Rudy Van Gelder at Englewood Cliffs in April 1973. Sebesky called in the label's roster: Freddie Hubbard, Paul Desmond, George Benson, Hubert Laws, Grover Washington Jr., Milt Jackson, Joe Farrell, Bob James, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham and Jack DeJohnette, with Jackie Cain and Roy Kral on vocals. The programme runs from a "Firebird / Birds Of Fire" medley of Stravinsky and Mahavishnu Orchestra to Joni Mitchell's "Song To A Seagull" featuring Desmond, and Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise". It reached No. 16 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. This is the US CTI pressing (CTX 6031/32), a promo copy.
