She's Strange, released January 1984 on Atlanta Artists (distributed via Casablanca) and produced by Larry Blackmon, gave Cameo their first number-one R&B single with the title track, which held the top spot for four weeks. Recorded at Cheshire Sound Studios in Atlanta, the album reached number one on the R&B albums chart and went gold, with "Talkin' Out the Side of Your Neck" becoming an unlikely favorite among HBCU marching bands.
