This Boot Is Made For Fonk-n, released 1979 on Warner Bros., was the fourth and, for a time, final album billed to Bootsy's Rubber Band, produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins under their studio aliases Dr. Funkenstein and Starr-Mon. It reached number nine on the R&B albums chart despite yielding no major hit singles, leaning further into P-Funk's stranger corners. The gatefold came packaged with an eight-page comic, "The Almost Finished Comic," illustrated by P-Funk artist Overton Loyd.
