Lady Soul, released January 1968 on Atlantic, was produced by Jerry Wexler and recorded in New York with the Muscle Shoals rhythm section flown up for the sessions, plus a guest guitar spot from Eric Clapton on "Good to Me as I Am to You." The album spent sixteen weeks at number one on the R&B chart and includes "Chain of Fools" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," which won Franklin her first Grammy.
