Lady Soul, released January 1968 on Atlantic, is Aretha Franklin's twelfth album, produced by Jerry Wexler with Eric Clapton, Bobby Womack and King Curtis among the session players, and The Sweet Inspirations, including a young Cissy Houston, on backing vocals. It carried three major singles: "Chain of Fools," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone." The album topped the R&B chart for sixteen weeks and sold over a million copies.
