Jazz Is Dead 4 pairs Azymuth with label founders Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, part of a series built around new recordings with jazz musicians whose work has long fed hip-hop sampling. Younge, known for his work with Wu-Tang Clan, and Muhammad, a co-founder of A Tribe Called Quest, started the Los Angeles label in 2017. It debuted in March 2020 with Roy Ayers, Marcos Valle, Doug Carn, Gary Bartz and Azymuth, and this volume continues that approach.
