Forfolks, released December 2021 on International Anthem/Nonesuch, is guitarist Jeff Parker's first fully solo album, built from looped and layered guitar recorded largely live in single takes at his home. The eight tracks mix originals like "Off Om" and "Flour Of Fur" with reworked standards including "My Ideal" and Monk's "Ugly Beauty." Liner notes by longtime Chicago collaborator Matthew Lux describe Parker as "an unusually selfless improviser," a quality that carries through even on a record where, for once, he's the only musician on the entire session, with no one else's playing to make room for.
