Soul Searching, released 1976 on Atlantic, is Average White Band's fourth album, produced by Arif Mardin with the Brecker Brothers guesting on horns. It followed two number-one R&B albums and was widely read as the record where the Scottish band worked through the 1974 death of founding drummer Robbie McIntosh, grief they hadn't directly addressed on the previous release. Despite no major hit single, it reached number two on the R&B albums chart and went platinum, becoming their best-selling record.
