Yaya Bey's 2024 album for Big Dada follows her Remember Your North Star and the Exodus The North Star EP with sixteen tracks she's called a self-portrait built from in-the-moment reflection rather than fixed narrative. “Chasing The Bus” is the clearest example — on its surface about being taken for granted in a relationship, but by Bey's own account also a metaphor for how she's treated within the music industry itself. Grand Daddy I.U. and Exaktly both guest; Bey directed and choreographed the single's video herself, extending the same hands-on control into the visual side of the record.
