Malcolm's Law, released January 2025 on Severn Songs, is the debut album from Bristol trio Waldo's Gift, made up of drummer James Vine, guitarist Alun Elliott-Williams and bassist Harry Stoneham. The record grew out of an intense weekly residency the band held at Bristol venue The Gallimaufry between 2017 and 2020, and every one of its nine tracks is a single live take with no overdubs. The result has been described as a maximalist, technically demanding guitar record pulling from jazz, prog-metal, math-rock and electronic touchstones like Squarepusher and Aphex Twin. As Vine puts it, "We're all on the limit of what we can physically play, and that's where the fun comes from."
