Voices of Bishara, released November 2022, is Tom Skinner's solo debut, six tracks born from a Played Twice session at London's Brilliant Corners where musicians improvised in response to Tony Williams' 1964 album Life Time. The title nods to cellist Abdul Wadud's rare 1978 record By Myself, released on his own Bisharra label; "Bishara" translates roughly to "the bringer of good news." Skinner took an unusually hands-on approach to editing afterward, saying "I took a very liberal approach with the scissors and started going really hard into the edits between instruments," drawing on disco re-edit techniques and Theo Parrish's studio methods to shape the final record. He describes the result simply as individual voices coming together collectively.
