Natura Morta, released June 2021 on Piano Piano, is Sven Wunder's meditation on still life painting, its Italian title translating literally as "dead nature." Across twelve tracks, he blends chamber orchestra with jazz ensemble playing, moving between classical and more modern idioms in what he calls "a musical kaleidoscope of ever-changing colors." The record explores art as a bridge between nature and human perception, a musical study of material pleasure that also sits quietly with the passing of time and the slow decay every still life implies. It was made with support from the Swedish Arts Council, part of Wunder's ongoing series of loosely conceptual, tightly arranged instrumental records.
