Music Of My Mind, released March 1972 on Tamla, was the first album Stevie Wonder made after renegotiating his Motown contract for full creative control at twenty-one. Wonder produced it himself and played nearly every instrument, working with Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil, whose modular TONTO synthesizer he'd discovered that year. Lead single "Superwoman" reached number thirteen on the R&B chart, opening the prolific stretch of albums that followed through the mid-1970s.
