Messy, released June 2023, is the debut album from London singer Olivia Dean, twelve tracks moving through neo-soul, jazz-inflected pop and Motown-indebted arrangements. It followed a run of well-received EPs and singles that had already built her a following, and helped establish her as one of the more distinctive new voices in UK soul, balancing diaristic songwriting with a warm, retro-leaning sound.
