Hotel San Claudio, released March 2023, pairs pianist and producer Mark de Clive-Lowe with drummer-producer Shigeto and Brooklyn flautist and Verve artist Melanie Charles across nine tracks mixing original spiritual jazz with a two-part reworking of Pharoah Sanders's "The Creator Has a Master Plan" from his 1969 album Karma. "Strings" draws on Shigeto's beat-based, off-kilter production style, while "MFT" layers Charles's reverb-treated vocals over the trio's arrangements. "Bushido" first appeared on de Clive-Lowe's earlier solo record, Heritage, reworked here for the trio's format rather than left as a straight repeat of the original arrangement.
