Sentimental Fool, released October 2022 on Daptone Records, marks Lee Fields's return to the label after years recording elsewhere, produced by Gabriel Roth, known as Bosco Mann. Cut in early 2022, the twelve songs lean into a deep, blues-tinged sound built around Fields's weathered voice, working through heartbreak, distance and reflection on tracks like "Two Jobs" and "Your Face Before My Eyes." It's a tighter, more direct record than some of his recent work, closer to the raw soul that first built his reputation decades earlier than to any polished nostalgia act.
