Nightbirds, released 1974 on Epic and produced by Allen Toussaint, was recorded at Sea-Saint Studios in New Orleans with Toussaint's regular session players, including Art Neville and George Porter Jr. of the Meters. The album reached number eight on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, driven by "Lady Marmalade," written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan rather than by any member of the trio.
